Today I want to talk about money, money is a pretty strange concept when you think about it, it is relatively worthless in itself, yet it is given value because people believe it has value.

The largest problem with our current monetary system is that once you have money, it becomes a lot easier to get more money, an interesting phenomenon, because people want your money, you can exert control on them, and as such being in the position of power are able to get more money in your pocket. (and so on and so forth)

Money has always intrigued me, and I've always wondered about the whole "power corrupts" scenario, but I essentially believe that no matter how many outside influences you try to blame it on, your corruption stems from yourself and your own decisions. I believe that when I am a billionaire I will use the control that I am able to wield for good, rather than evil. As a child when I told adults that I would be rich, I was called all sorts of nasty names, "arrogant", "naive" just to name a couple, why is it that people put this evil stigma on money? Money is not evil, money is a concept, a concept that people believe in, and a concept people are willing to follow to their graves (sounds like fanaticism hey?)  and I for one want to create A LOT of money, but I plan on doing A LOT of good with this money.

Money, essentially, is a religion, and much like any religion, to retain its control, it must keep the masses in ignorance. We are brought up to believe, that we have to "go to school", "don't do drugs", "follow your career path", because we are told, this is the best way we can earn money, when essentially, no matter how hard you work, no matter how far up the corporate chain you go, you will be working for somebody else, and I promise you, you will be earning peanuts.

The strangest thing I have ever found about money, is people's attitude towards it. Take a modern day, aged 35+, 9-5 office worker for example, I'm sure you have heard all sorts of comments like: "I'm broke", "I can't wait for pay day", now don't get me wrong, for most teenagers, mid twenties and so on, I kind of expect them to blow their money at the nightclub every weekend. But WHERE are these people spending their money? now I'm not stupid, I understand there are all sorts of expenses, all sorts of reasons why they might be running short on money, but to live pay cheque to pay cheque is absolutely absurd!

We live in a country where one can live off the minimum wage, relatively comfortably, but are we just too lazy and too greedy to live off double that? Or should our society be teaching people how to save money? and more importantly, how to utilise their money correctly? Or would this be bad because it would interrupt our consumer driven economy? I don't know, all I know is there is no WAY I am repeating the mistakes of previous generations, I want to be the change that I want to see, I don't know who will join me though.

I could go on forever about money, but I'll leave it at that, because I want to go back to focusing on LOVE :)
